Socratic AI — Terms of Use

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the Socratic AI mobile application and related services (the “App”) operated by Socratic Technologies Inc. (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By creating an account or using the App, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy (https://getsocratic.ai/privacy-policy), which describes how we collect, use, and protect your data.

1. Who Can Use the App

‍

You must be 18 years of age or older to use the App. The App is intended for medical students, healthcare trainees, residents, clinicians, and educators in the United States. We do not represent that the App is appropriate or available for use outside the United States.

The App is not directed at children under 13. If you are under 13, do not use this App. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If we learn we have done so, we will delete it promptly. Contact us at privacy@getsocratic.ai if you have concerns.

2. Your Account

‍

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity that occurs under your account, whether authorized or not. Provide accurate information when registering. Report any unauthorized use to support@getsocratic.ai immediately.

3. What the App Does — and Doesn’t Do

‍

Socratic AI is an educational platform for medical learning and clinical simulation. It uses artificial intelligence to support practice, not to replace clinical judgment.

‍

The App does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. AI-generated responses may be inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated. Never rely on the App for actual patient care decisions.

‍

AI output is generated by probabilistic systems and may occasionally be wrong, inconsistent, or produce unexpected responses. You are responsible for independently verifying anything the App produces before acting on it.

4. Acceptable Use

‍

Use the App only for lawful educational purposes. You agree not to:

Use the App for actual patient care or clinical decision-making
Submit any real patient health information, protected health information (PHI), or personally identifiable health data about actual patients
Submit any content that is illegal or that exploits or harms minors
Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract our AI models or system prompts
Use the App to cheat on exams, certifications, or assessments
Harass, impersonate, or harm others
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the App or its infrastructure
Use bots, scripts, or automated tools without our written permissionWe may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these rules.

5. Content You Submit

‍

You retain ownership of content you submit to the App. By submitting content, you grant us a limited license to use it solely to operate and deliver the App to you. This license continues for the duration of your account and terminates when your account is closed or the content is deleted by your institution, subject to our Privacy Policy. We do not sell your personal information.

6. Our Content

‍

We own the App, designs, scoring systems, and all related technology. Nothing in these Terms transfers any of that to you. You may use the App’s output for your own personal educational purposes only.

7. Subscriptions and Billing

‍

Access. Access to the App is provided by your institution — a university, medical school, hospital, or other organization that has licensed the Socratic AI platform.

‍

Who to contact for billing. All billing, subscription, and payment questions should be directed to your institution's administrator.

‍

When access ends. Your access to the App continues for as long as your institution maintains an active license with us and you remain an authorized user under that license. Your institution may modify, suspend, or revoke your access at any time in accordance with its policies. If your institution's license expires or is terminated, your access will end

Purchases and Access. The App does not support in-app purchases, subscriptions, or paid features to individual users through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Access to the App is provided by your institution or through an authorized account.

8. Termination

‍

By Socratic AI We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, for legitimate business reasons such as discontinuing the App, or as required by law. Where practicable, we will provide reasonable advance notice unless the violation requires immediate action.

By your institution. If your access is provided through an institution, your institution may modify, suspend, or revoke your access at any time in accordance with its own policies. Socratic AI is not responsible for access decisions made by your institution.

‍

By you.You may request deletion of your personal data at any time by emailing support@getsocratic.ai. We will process verified deletion requests within 45 days, subject to any retention obligations required by law or your institution's agreement with us.

Effect of termination.. When your access ends for any reason, your right to use the App ceases immediately. Data retention and deletion following termination are handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and, where applicable, your institution's agreement with us

9. Disclaimers

‍

THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” We make no warranties — express or implied — about the accuracy, reliability, or fitness of the App or its AI output for any purpose. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, error-free operation, or any particular educational or professional outcome.

Some states do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties. In those states, our exclusions apply to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.

‍

10. Limitation of Liability

‍

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Socratic AI's total liability to you as an individual user for any claim arising from your use of the App is limited to $100. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages of any kind, including loss of data, loss of access, or any outcome related to your educational or professional training.

If your access is provided through an institution, the liability between Socratic AI and that institution is governed exclusively by their signed agreement with us, not by these Terms.

‍

Some states do not allow limitations on liability. In those states, our limitations apply to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.

‍

11. Disputes

‍

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA.

‍

Before filing any legal claim, please contact us at legal@getsocratic.ai so we can try to resolve the issue informally.

‍

Disputes that cannot be resolved informally will be settled by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, on an individual basis. Arbitration may be conducted remotely at your option. You waive the right to participate in a class action.

‍

You may opt out of arbitration within 30 days of first accepting these Terms by emailing legal@getsocratic.ai with “Arbitration Opt-Out” in the subject line, along with your name, account email, role, institution, and a clear statement opting out. Opting out does not affect your account.

‍

If you opt out, disputes will be resolved exclusively in state or federal courts in Wilmington, Delaware, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there.

12. Changes to These Terms

‍

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or in-app notice. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the App before the effective date. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
